Wildfowling

We are now taking bookings for 2010/2011 season.

Guided Goose shooting sessions are taken at dawn / dusk, set in a beautiful, West Cumbrian valley. Decoys / gundogs can be supplied if necessary. Lindow Estates cater for all ages and levels of experience. BASC codes of practice apply.

The Esk estuary close to where we offer shooting was beloved by Hugh Falkus, Hughs dedication to wildfowling soon earned him his own nickname "quack".

"In the winter, shooting was and always has been my life, and to me no shooting quite equals the pursuit of wildfowl on salt marshes. It has a strong, weird mystique that demands an affinity with loneliness, a love of solitude" - Hugh Falkus.

My friend Hugh Falkus shoots wild duck. I think he would almost rather go duck shooting than anything...It is strange how wildfowling attracts men of marked individuality and poetic sensibility. You have to be out of the rut of commonplaces to fancy this rare, weird game of wildfowling. It is the most romantical of sports surviving to us.
