Lindow Estates

The Lindow family were historically landowners in the area having made their fortune in the iron ore industry. Part of the land on which we offer shooting was a key part of the Lindow Estate within West Cumbria. This part of the world is in the heart of the Lake District offering vivid and exciting contrasts, lying between the mountains and the sea.

We also offer shooting close to a valley and a river  that was much loved by award winning film maker, angling writer and wildlife broadcastor, the legendary Hugh Falkus

Falkus went at life at full tilt.. He caught his first fish when he was 4, learnt to shoot when he was 6, and was an expert helmsman at 15. By 18 he had learnt to fly, by 19 he was married and by 20 he was a fighter pilot in the RAF. A couple of years later he was a spitfire pilot, fighting in the run up to the battle of Britain. By 1950 he was making films about his abiding passion, nature.....the rest is history.

As the seasons change some sportsmen savour the last few days while others look forward to the next. One thing is for sure, the friendships and memories developed in the outdoors are imprinted forever.

Members of our family have been actively involved in country pursuits from 9 years of age. We have been mentored by individuals skilled in the art of field craft and we look forward to meeting you.

We offer deerstalking carried out with old fashioned pride and family values. Hunting for a wild resource, not a captive parkland herd. Utilising a selective cull we only allow a limited number of outings per season, this keeps pressure low and the deer moving naturally.

We have always tried to give back to conservation, helping future generations experience nature the way we have. We urge you to join a fish and game organisation or habitat management group to keep our sports healthy. And remember, the next time you go out to participate in country pursuits, take a child.
